Write the Vision Before You Chase It
Before the week fills with meetings and deadlines, bring your plans to God and let Him make the vision plain.
And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
Habakkuk 2:2-3 (KJV)
Monday has a way of arriving with its own agenda. Before your coffee cools, the inbox has already decided what matters. Many leaders spend the whole week reacting, busy and productive, without ever asking whether they are building what God called them to build.
Habakkuk was a man waiting on God for answers, and the instruction he received was simple: write it down, make it plain. Vision that lives only in your head is easily crowded out. Vision that is written, prayed over and shared becomes something a team can run with.
There is also a promise of timing here. "Though it tarry, wait for it." Some of what God has placed in your heart for your business has not yet come to pass. That is not failure. It is an appointed time. Your part is to stay faithful, keep the vision clear, and refuse to trade it for every shiny opportunity that crosses your desk.
This morning, before the boardroom, come to the altar. Ask God to sharpen what is blurry, remove what is not yours to carry, and set the order of your week.
Let us pray
Father, thank You for a new week and for the work You have entrusted to my hands. Before I open a single email or take a single call, I bring my business, my plans and my people to You.
Lord, make the vision plain. Where I am unclear, give me clarity. Where I am distracted, bring me back to what You have called me to build. Help me say yes to the right things and no to good things that are not mine to pursue.
Give me patience for what is still on its way, and diligence for what is in front of me today. Let every decision I make this week line up with Your purpose. Order my steps, order my calendar, and order my priorities.
I commit this week to You. Let it bear fruit that lasts. In Jesus' name, Amen.
Declare today
- I will build what God has called me to build, not merely what is urgent.
- My vision is clear, written and committed to the Lord.
- I receive grace to wait for God's timing without losing faith.
- My steps this week are ordered by the Lord.
At work today
Write your top three priorities for the week on one page, pray over them, and share them with one person on your team.
