Ask for Wisdom Before You Sign
Every leader faces decisions that are bigger than their experience. God promises wisdom to those who ask.
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
James 1:5 (KJV)
Somewhere on your desk is a decision you have been circling. A hire, a partnership, a price change, a contract, an investment. You have gathered the data and asked for opinions, and still you are not sure.
James gives leaders one of the most practical promises in Scripture: if you lack wisdom, ask God. He gives it liberally, which means generously. He gives it without reproach, which means He will not shame you for not already knowing. The God who called you into business is not annoyed by your questions.
Wisdom is more than information. Spreadsheets tell you what is; wisdom tells you what to do. It weighs timing, character, motive and consequence. It notices what the numbers leave out. And often it arrives as quiet peace about one path and an unsettled heart about another.
So do your homework, and then do your praying. Do not let pressure, pride or fear make the decision for you. Take it to the altar first.
Let us pray
Lord, You are the source of all wisdom, and today I admit that I need it. I bring before You every decision on my desk: the deals, the hires, the strategy and the hard conversations I have been avoiding.
Give me Your wisdom, generously, just as You promised. Open my eyes to what I cannot see. Expose any hidden risk, and confirm every right opportunity. Where I am being pushed by fear or pressure, give me the courage to pause. Where I am hesitating out of doubt, give me the faith to move.
Surround me with wise counsel, and help me listen well. Let me choose integrity over shortcuts and long-term fruit over quick wins. Let Your peace guide my heart as I decide.
I trust You with the outcome. In Jesus' name, Amen.
