The Power to Get Wealth Comes From God
Our skill, hustle and strategy matter, but provision begins with God. Today we pray over cash flow, stewardship and the work of our hands.
But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.
Deuteronomy 8:18 (KJV)
Midweek is often when the numbers speak loudest. Invoices are due, payroll is coming, and the gap between what came in and what must go out feels personal. Business owners carry this weight in a way few others understand.
Moses spoke these words to a people about to enter abundance. His warning was not against wealth but against forgetting where it comes from. "It is he that giveth thee power to get wealth." The ideas, the energy, the open doors, the customers who say yes: all of it is grace.
Remembering this does two things. It frees you from the anxiety of thinking everything depends on you, and it keeps you humble when things go well. God gives power to get wealth that he may establish his covenant. Provision has a purpose beyond our comfort. It funds families, creates jobs, supports the work of the kingdom and blesses communities.
So today we pray over our finances with open hands. We ask for provision, and we also ask for the wisdom to steward it well, the discipline to plan, and the generosity to give.
Let us pray
Father, I honour You as my source. Every good thing in my business has come from Your hand. Thank You for the provision I have seen, and for the provision that is on its way.
Today I lift up my finances to You: my cash flow, my receivables, my obligations, my debts and my savings. Where money is tight, make a way. Bring the right customers, contracts and payments in due season. Give me ideas that create value and open doors no one can shut.
Teach me to steward well. Deliver me from waste, poor planning and decisions driven by greed or fear. Let me be faithful with little and trustworthy with much. Make me a generous giver, and let my business be a channel of blessing to my family, my staff and my community.
I will not forget that You are the One who gives the power to get wealth. In Jesus' name, Amen.
